Real Madrid are the "champions of the world

Surely the maddest FIFA Club World Cup final there has ever been, with Real Madrid looking to be out of sight on three separate occasions before Al Hilal edged their way back into the contest.

Things really didn't look good for the Saudis after 18 minutes, as quick-fire goals for Vinícius and Fede Valverde appeared to set Los Blancos on the road to a comfortable victory.

Perhaps Madrid themselves believed that to be the case, as they carelessly left the back door open and allowed Al Hilal attacker Moussa Marega to race from his own half to halve the deficit.

Marega was a constant menace for the Madrid defence and threatened either side of half-time but Madrid's ruthlessness again appeared early in the second half as Benzema and Valverde appeared to put the game out of sight

Vietto bundled home from close range after Madrid had made a mess of playing out from the back but Vinícius curled in a fifth for Los Blancos, which appeared to settle the game (again).

There were still over 10 minutes left to play but that's what Madrid showed their true winners' pedigree.

Marega missed a big chance to make it 5-4 but Al Hilal's challenge ultimately ended in a whimper as Carlo Ancelotti's men saw out the remaining time with ease.
